Book a Session

Plan it.

It starts before the camera even comes close. I want to get to know you and your dog, so we’ll spend some time on the phone for some planning. I’ll discover what you love most about life with your dog, the things you do together, your favorite places. I’ll ask about your vision of the two of you, who you want in the shots, the pictures you want - a calm portrait or outdoor-active - or both.

Naturally, we’ll also talk about your dog - who is he? Is he goofy, playful or reserved? Puppy, active adult, or distinguished elder citizen? Does he like to watch TV with you? Or does he prefer hiking or chasing his favorite toys?

When I know a bit more about your dog and his life with you, you’ll pick your favorite location. It’s your choice - a place you both love, whether it’s your backyard or a mountain or desert trail. Then we’ll plan a time that fits your schedule and gives me good light.

Shoot it.

Sessions generally last from an hour to half a day, long enough to take your dog from excited activity to a relaxed seat in your lap. This duration is different for every dog and his person - it depends on you. And it’ll be in a spot you both feel good in, a favorite. I want to tell the story of you with your dog we’ve talked about, and I’ll shoot until we do that.

I may ask for certain activities or tricks you’ve told me about. I’ll use my own eye to craft a variety of looks - hero poses with your dog as the star, buddy shots, athletic motion if that fits, quiet moments.

When I feel I have what we’ve planned (plus maybe some unplanned extras), I’ll call it a wrap.

Print it.

Before any printing happens, I’ll help you work towards your shared story with a presentation. Together we’ll look at the story the pictures tell, and I’ll help you choose your favorites. This will usually uncover more than the story we discussed - you may see more subtle, different sides of your relationship with your dog. Once we get to a set of pictures you feel describes your companionship and feelings, you’ll choose the space you’d like them in, the best place for your quiet reflection and smiles at the memories.

I print archival quality images that hold up to sunlight and time to give you a lifetime of memories.
